February 11 – Razvan Chisu -Snowdrops, snowflakes and other late-winter flowers

Raz is currently working as the Social Media Manager for the Alpine Garden Society and writes for various gardening magazines. He also organises and leads tours, and lectures to gardening groups in the UK and abroad. He has worked in garden design and maintenance, and has been the editor of the Saxifrage Magazine for the Saxifrage Society. 
He grew up in Transylvania in a town surrounded by vast woodlands and species-rich wildlife meadows, a fact that has influenced the way he designed and maintained gardens.

March 11 – Vegetable Growing with Coral and John Bebbington

‘From back bedroom and back again’ They will talk about how they grow vegetables in their Crewe allotment. John had been a qualified judge for about 12 years and both John and Coral are active members of the NVS.

April 8 - Jane Alison Mayfield plants ‘Walk on the wild side’.                            

Accompany me on a pictorial walk which takes in the flowers of hedgerows, stream sides, canal and coastal paths, ancient churchyards, woodland, meadows and rural cottage gardens, with a little bit of literature thrown in for good measure.

May 13 - Maureen Sawyer BA (Hons) ATD -Perfect Pots – Using pots and containers in the garden.

Maureen is a gardener and practising artist and designer who divides her time between the development of the garden at Southlands, the garden design and consultation service she offers and her own work which she exhibits in galleries and craft shops. In the past she was a senior lecturer in art and design.

Maureen has served on the National Executive Committee of the Cottage Garden Society. She is a listed RHS speaker, offering presentations about many gardening topics and a speaker for the National Garden Scheme.

 July 8 - Kate Brophy of Fryers Roses

Roses– the basics and Beyond Fryer's have been specialising in roses for over a century, are internationally renowned and have gained prestigious awards from all over the world. A general talk on growing roses with demonstrations and Q&A Plants for sale.

August 12 - Anne Harrison - ‘What’s wrong with my Plant?  Common problems’

Anne trained at Kew Gardens. She recently retired from her work as a lecturer at Reaseheath College, Nantwich. Anne will share her lifetime’s expertise and knowledge of all things plant problem related. Bring your questions and any evidence along to the meeting!

September 9 – Stephen the Gardener - Gardener’s Best Friend”

Stephen Gore is Head Gardener at Stretton Old Hall, Tilston.  Stephen returns to update us on gardening developments at Stretton Old Hall and share with us his thoughts on a “Gardener’s Best Friend”

October 14 - Compost- Simon Sherlock

This talk aims to equip you with practical insights to creating a thriving, eco-friendly garden by embracing the art of composting and unlocking the potential of your soil, as well as making use of your valuable food and garden waste.

November 11- Tracy Snell- Garden Manager at RHS Bridgewater   - The Scholars’ Garden Centrepiece       

Tracy, who is a Garden Manager at RHS Bridgewater in Worsley, will talk about the recent completion of The Scholars’ Garden centrepiece of the Chinese Garden. This will be an illustrative presentation of the construction journey and the significance of the garden.

December 9 - Harriet Brown Fused Glass Art

Harriet, who lives in Manley, was initially inspired by decorative glass stakes from her parents’ garden. Since then, she has learnt and developed the techniques and is producing unique fused glass art for the garden and home.   

We will also celebrate the festive season with mince pies and mulled wine.
